In this case the current is being passed from head to foot and the impedance is measured along the vertical axis, parallel to the aorta and vena-cava. In electrode configuration for VICG (H) the current is passed from one hand to another hand so that the impedance is measured along the horizontal axis perpendicular to aorta and vena-cava.
